Practice for Peace
Welcome to theĀ BeĀ of Nourish&Be!Ā
Join me for a 20 minute relaxation meditation, with extra time for a short talk and questions.Ā Each week might use a different focus, such as mettÄ, samatha, or muditÄ. Sessions take place every Tuesday evening at 8:30pm.
Practicing meditation can be a frustrating and lonely task which many give up on: the aim of this group is to motivate each other along, encouraging you to take some time to cultivate peace in your corner of the world.
Meditation is not about achieving peace, but about being at peace with what is.Ā
Ā All are welcome.Ā

MettÄ
Metta, or loving-kindness meditation, uses phrases directed either towards the self, or towards other beings.Ā

Samatha
A technique used to develop concentration, samatha meditation focuses on the object of the breath.Ā

Ā MuditÄ
Referring to the sense of altruistic joyful appreciation, MuditÄĀ phrases aims to cultivate gratitude.Ā
Please note:Ā These sessions are run on a by-donation basis to honour the belief that meditation should not be for sale, but accessible to all. Although this can be disconcerting for the donor initially, practicing generosity (orĀ dÄna, in Buddhist tradition) is an important practice in itself. Your donation is not a business transaction, but an opportunity to turn away from the greed, and anger and delusion present in abundance in the world. A portion of your donation will be given to charities in Myanmar.Ā Ā
